This youth club had so many bright and talented young people and we really enjoyed working there. Everyone who took part really got their heads down and made some really cool music.

This project was for young people on the autistic spectrum who were interested in music production. The enthusiasm in this group was fantastic. We found that most of the young people in the group responded best to the more practical side of music making; the singing, playing and recording. You can really hear this in the track that were produced, they are all full of improvisations and recordings.

The group were so spontaneous and expressive with their music, and number of young people free styled their own lyrics to add to their tracks.

Sulgrave Youth Club

These are some of the tracks from our most recent project at the Sulgrave Youth Club, the students worked really well, alone as well as in pairs. They got some great results in the time they were given.

Jackie

Jackie decided to make a techno tune by layering different drum loops over each other, she created the effect of a build up by adding more percussion. She made excellent use of the equipment by recording the own samples, she wrote lyrics about all her favourite foods ( although they are hard to make out!! If you listen really carefully you can hear “ice cream, jelly, cookies, crisps!”), and loading them into a sampler and used the pitch bend to make the words alternate in pitch and speed. This turned out to be a really original and interesting tune and was a lot of fun to make!!

Billy

Billy was a really hard worker and created a number of tracks in the time he had. They ranged from a more funky sound to a hip hop beat. He showed a really ability in arranging the track into a full composition, with different sections. Billy also recorded his own sample and used a sampler to change the sound.

Nataleigh

Nataleigh was able to create her track “Tribal Song” by layering different loops together using a Dr Rex loop player. She chose drum loops, percussion, instrumentals and guitars, adding them into the track one by one. She did really well in selecting sounds which went well together and used a diverse selection.

Adrianna

Adrianna decided to go for a down tempo track, she slowed loops down and made hiphop drums into something more like RnB being really clever in achieving the sound she wanted.
